What are the Cost of Meals & Eligibility Requirements
At Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit, our goal is to share hot meals and warm conversations with our neighbors. We partner with caregivers, to be one more set of hands delivering well-balanced meals to the doorstep, one more set of ears to listen to stories shared, one more set of eyes to make sure someone comes to the door that day. And if, by chance, our visit goes unanswered, to be one more advocate who personally calls you and first responders if necessary. We are here to partner with caregivers and love our Lee’s Summit neighbors.

What is the cost per meal?
Our hot, well-balanced meals are $3.75, with no additional delivery fee.
How is that possible?
$3.75 covers the cost of ingredients. Our volunteer drivers, and those assisting the Lee’s Summit Medical Center kitchen staff, lovingly donate their time to tailor each meal to the specific needs of our clients. Utilizing the expertise of the hospital Chef, our volunteers carefully pack meals that are safe for medical restrictions, including allergies, religious observances, and individual preferences. We go the extra mile to cut meat into bitesize pieces and puree food when requested.
What if I can’t afford $3.75?
Although Meals on Wheels of Lee’s Summit receives no federal funding, private donations from the Lee’s Summit community make it possible to subsidize meal costs. If a resident living within the R7 Lee’s Summit School District is a client of Lee’s Summit Social Services, the cost of their meal is 100% covered. We appreciate the benevolence of our private donors!
How do I purchase meals?
With a check (address shown below) or credit card, anyone can purchase a meal!
If you’re purchasing a meal for a specific resident living within the R7 Lee’s Summit School District, proceed here.
If you don’t have a specific resident in mind but would like to donate meals to serve one of our 125+ active clients, it’s easy and secure to donate here.
Who is Eligible?
You are eligible for Meals on Wheels if you meet all the criteria listed below:
· You are a resident living within the R7 Lee’s Summit School District, regardless of household income level.
· You can accept meals delivered to your front door between 11a-12:30p, Monday-Friday, including weekday holidays.
· You are permanently or temporarily homebound and unable to prepare meals.
